The US imported some 185 kbd of Colombia crude oil in 2024 and its vast majority was heavy sour Castilla accounting nearly 70%.²⁾

Colombia’s key export grades are heavier crudes, and so refiners in the US Gulf Coast will either have to find alternatives or face higher costs.^{3) 4)}
