70 Years „Der Silberne Bruch“

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Order “Der Silberne Bruch” – an order dedicated to the protection of forest, wildlife, and countryside as well as the promotion of fair and ethical hunting – the Styria branch hosted a celebration on July 3 at the Naturwelten Steiermark, attended by a large number of distinguished guests. Representing the Silberner Bruch were Honorary Colonel Dr. Jürgen Siegert and State Chairman Maurice Pointner.

The program was led by the brethren of the Order: Mag. Stephan Bertuch, District Hunting Master of Graz, Dr. Bernhard Frizberg, Dr. Klaus Hejny, Deputy District Hunting Master of Graz, and the Styrian branch head of the Order, DI Mag. Albert Dijaschtuk.

Greetings were delivered in the usual informative and competent manner by Prof. Dr. Johannes Gepp, Member of the State Parliament Stefan Resch, and State Hunting Master Franz Mayr-Melnhof-Saurau.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anna Kübber-Heiss, Head of the Pathology Department at FIWI, gave a specialist lecture on “Wildlife Diseases as a Black Box: a Brief Overview from the Pathologist’s Perspective”, which proved to be highly topical, informative, and enlightening.

Wildlife ecologist Dr. Andreas Kranz presented the project “Wildcats – Extinct – Exterminated – Returned” and was awarded a sponsorship prize of €2,500 by the Silberner Bruch for the wildcat project.

Following the successful event, held in the beautiful setting of the Naturwelten and accompanied by the music of the hunting horn players Mixnitz-Bärenschützklamm, the Silberner Bruch invited guests to a buffet with personal exchanges of ideas in the spirit of the golden ring of the Order’s emblem.
