Židlochovice Talks 2026

On September 3, 2026, I had the privilege of taking part in the 19th international conference “Židlochovice Talks.” Under the motto “Hunting in Central Europe – common roots in the past, common topics in the present, and a shared path into the future,” this year’s conference focused particularly on “Hunting in a Changing Society.”

In the historic setting of Židlochovice Castle, experts from science and hunting practice discussed hunting ethics and fair chase, the responsibility of hunters, modern hunting technology, and public communication in the digital age. Particularly valuable was once again the open international exchange on society’s expectations of hunting and hunters.

Among the speakers were Prof. Dr. Markus Moling, Simone Lechner, Christine Fischer, Dr. Hubert Zeiler, Prof. Dr. Jiri Kammler, and Prof. Dr. Dr. Sven Herzog. Their presentations ranged from fundamental ethical questions to wildlife regulation and the question “Why do we hunt?”

The conference concluded with a panel discussion on public relations for hunting and the responsibilities of hunters, involving leading representatives of Central European hunting associations.

The Židlochovice Talks 2026 once again demonstrated the importance of cross-border dialogue for the future of hunting. Tradition, ethics, modern developments, and social responsibility must go hand in hand to ensure that hunting continues to play a credible and responsible role in society.
