How to Create a Bootable USB for Neko Linux Using Rufus
It's a quick and easy way to use all of Neko’s tools just like a regular install. However, because the system is running from a USB drive, performance may be slower compared to a traditional hard drive or SSD installation.
Download and open Rufus from rufus.ie .
Insert your USB drive into your computer (it will be erased, so back up anything important!).
In Rufus, under Device, select your USB drive.
Click SELECT and choose your custom Neko Linux
.isofile.Partition Scheme: Choose MBR for BIOS/UEFI compatibility, or GPT for UEFI-only systems (depends on your target machine).
File System: Leave it as FAT32 (default is usually fine).
Press Start and confirm any prompts to begin writing.
Wait for the process to finish — when it's done, your USB is ready to boot Neko Linux!
How to Use Neko Linux in VirtualBox
Open VirtualBox and click New to create a new virtual machine.
Name it (e.g., Neko Linux), select Linux as the type, and pick Other Linux (64-bit) as the version.
Assign RAM — at least 2 GB (2048 MB) is recommended.
Create a virtual hard disk (VDI format, dynamically allocated, at least 10 GB).
After setup, go to Settings → Storage, click the empty disk icon, and choose your Neko Linux
.isofile as the optical drive.Start the VM, and it will boot into the Neko Linux installer or live environment.
Follow the on-screen instructions to try or install Neko Linux!
